Do over

I've made 3 different batches of Valentines this morning, yeah, and just ruined a batch of chex mix party mix which means I'll have to go back to the store. I'm fairly certain my middle kiddo went to school in tears as she forgot her shoes-she wore her boots outside, and went I sprinted back to get her some before the bus came, I grabbed her least favorite pair, but since her favorites weren't in the shoe cubby, I am willing to say tough luck! At the bus stop, another mom said she had scratched her son on the bus while pretending to be a cat and drew blood. Now I get to have the first ever talk and send her to apologize which I know will go over sooo well. Another mom says the boy in question probably did something to provoke her, but the other kids that mom talked to about "the incident" say no. Haven't heard her side of the story yet. I have a pounding headache. Can we call it a day?

Speckled fluffy bliss

The carpet is here! Karl was able to find and fix the wall in record time! We are going too motor the wall to be sure the solution is successful but we are optimistic that it was! In the meantime the carpet guys returned, and conquered! We are the proud new owners of some soft fluffy brown speckled carpet. The fun begins! We need to put back the baseboards, and replace the furniture against the wall, build a few book cases and haul our stuff back down. Our plan is to get the main areas in place, my office, Karl's office, and play room so we dont have giant pile of boxes to navigate around. Also we will be able to immediately put away books and toys as we bring each box down stairs. Or at least that's the plan!!

Sadly that means we will have piles upstairs so we can't dawdle too long!

Curses, foiled again!

Today was the big day. We have emptied and packed and hauled for two days. The carpet guys arrived and lo and behold, the evil moldy corner- it's still wet. The tack strips actually squished out water when touched. Argh, these project feels cursed. So Karl is attempting to remove the lovely basement paneling so we can figure out why we have water oozing out of the track.

I would like to cry.

Emptying the Basement

I am thrilled and grumpy! We had a flood right before Christmas due to a sump pimp failing to turn on. It ruined a huge stretch of carpet so we had to contact our insurance company and file a claim. After an incredibly long time dealing with paperwork it gets fixed this week! We are having to do some heavy work though in the form of schlepping all the boxes and stuff upstairs. See, says Karl, it s a good thing I haven't unpacked yet! Sadly he's right'. The kids toys and all my craft/books have to be hauled or replaced into boxes, sigh, more boxes, and dumped into the living room. Happily we payed extra for the nice carpet crew to shift the furniture. I value my back e ought to refuse to pick that up. I am happy to report that Karl also has these three days off to actively participate in the great basement unload. I wish the carpet clearing will also clear up our allergies and sinus issues. Fingers crossed! I may do an air vent cleaning as well after this just to help out.
The first picture was taken Tuesday morning.
The second picture is our poor living room on Wednesday morning! The other one is the basement Wednesday morning. Long way to go, but it should be done by tonight so we can let the carpet guys haul the bookcases and desk away, then install in that lovely new carpet! Woohoo!

Naturally then the fun begins again. Dragging it all back to the basement and setting it all up again. Oh well. I get to plan out the space better this time!!
